Lightfoot Farm Aronia berries are grown on our farm, without the use of pesticides and using organic fertilizers. They were harvested in late August and then frozen for winter sales. Aronia, whose common name is chokeberry, is an antioxidant superstar. It is native to Eastern North America and is a great locally grown alternative to Amazon grown acai berries. Aronia berries are high in anti-inflammatory antioxidants, including anthocyanins, proanthocyandin, and flavonols. They may improve gut health and help to prevent cancer. They also have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-diabetic properties. The berries can be added to yogurt, smoothies, or baked goods or they can be juiced with other berries.
